Authenticating 'old' Céline Alphabet Pendants - Phoebe Philo era.

Credit: Design Scene

1 - The box: During this era, with Phobe Philo as the houses Creative Director, all Céline alphabet pendants were sold in white boxes with a fluffy interior, as pictured below. On the bottom right hand corner, Made in Italy is visible, although I have seen a few which say Made in South Korea. Please note this is referring to the box only. The pendant itself will always have markings bearing 'Made in Italy'.

2 - Dust bag: The dust bag will have CÉLINE written on the bottom front centre of the dust bag in black font. The stitching is neat, with a felt inside. The strings are dark grey, with again neat stitching.

3 - Care tag: This should open up to display the name of the product line. In this model photographed the pendant O was sold as part of a set which also came with the pendant letters Q and H and blue cotton string necklace. Otherwise the pendants are sold as separate letters without the cotton string, but will still have the care label noting the product line and number.

4 - Pendant: The pendant itself is brass, plated gold. The markings 'Céline' is displayed on the top circle supporting the pendant, with 'Made in Italy' written on the bottom circle holder. The markings are crisp and easy to read. All of the letters are written in the font associated with Céline during this era of the 'é'. The pendants were sold as part of Fall/Winter 2017. As the main material is brass, there may be dark marks on the pendant which can be buffed carefully with a jewellery cloth.
